Thanksgiving dinner is not complete without scrumptious side dishes. But maybe your traditional go to’s are tired out and your taste buds need something new. Try out these options to help you enjoy your holiday without guilt! Now while you try something new you can help your waistline and delight in your meal with your loved ones!
Toasted Green beans and almonds
1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans
1 tbsp avocado oil
1 tbsp organic butter or ghee
Blanch green beans in 1” boiling water for 5 minutes
Remove and finish sautéing with the butter and oil
Add almonds when done cooking, mix and serve
Almonds
1 cup slivered almonds
1 tbsp avocado oil
1/2 tsp garlic granules
1 tsp organic smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix almonds and oil in a pan and toast till golden brown
Mix in spices and sauté till well blended
Add to cooked green beans and toss to mix. Serve immediately
Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Bacon, Cranberries and Candied Walnuts
1 1/2 pounds of Brussels sprouts, quartered
1/2 purple onion, chopped
3 slices uncured bacon, chopped
1 cup organic dried cranberries
1 cup chopped walnuts, candied
1 tsp organic garlic granules
Salt and pepper to taste
Sauté bacon, onions and Brussels sprouts until tender
Add spices and stir
Add cranberries and walnuts, toss and serve immediately
Candied walnuts
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tbsp organic coconut oil
1 tbsp coconut sugar
Toast walnuts with oil till browned, sprinkle with sugar and set aside
